And the Oscar goes to........................... ............................. .....Heath Ledger.
When the bad guy outstrips the good guy then surely the bad guy must win the award. Nicholson's joker was just that...a joker. Heath's joker was more what you could imagine a bad guy in the city of Gotham to be.
Heath portrayed a really scary bad guy...who was a borderline psycho. Whilst Nicholson's joker was more funny that scary, Heath's was the opposite.
It's got to be a hard choice for the Oscar people. They are really in a hard way, with them either not selecting Heath for the award (and run the risk of getting bad press, etc) or alternatively award Heath the Oscar posthumously.
