"Everything Must Go" Lacks Comedy Punch

Will Ferrell's latest movie did not have all that great of starts at the box office. "Everything Must Go" opened in only 218 theaters across the United States. Its haul for the weekend was $850,000. The movie the first from Director Dan Rush cost only five million to make and show expand over the next couple of weeks.
Why the opening is weak while it opened in only 218 theaters. It's theater average is about $3,784. The other two new releases for the weekend averaged over $5000 a theater.
The Plot of the movie is simple. When an alcoholic relapses, causing him to lose his wife and his job, he holds a yard sale on his front lawn in an attempt to start over. A new neighbor might be the key to his return to form.
Besides Ferrell the movie stars Rebecca Hall, Laura Dern, Michael Pena and Stephen Root. The film has gotten decent review with Simon Reynolds of Digital Spy giving it three stars. With over 362 votes on IMDB.com the movie has an average of 6.7 stars.
