Box Office Breakdown: January 4, 2013

January 4th, 2013 kicked off the first weekend of movies for 2013. Only one movie made a wide release. Texas Chainsaw 3D opened up in over 2600 theaters.
Texas Chainsaw 3D had a great day becoming the first movie to break the $10 million mark for one day with its $10.2 million dollar take. It became the third #1 movie of 2013. Django Unchained which had been the #1 movie the past two days made $6.1 million while the other #1 movie of 2013 The Hobbit fell to third place with a haul of $5.1 million
Les Miserables(2012) came in fourth place $4.9 million dollars while Parental Guidance $3.1 million and Jack Reacher $2.9 million took the next two slots. Seventh place went to This is 40 with a $2.7 million dollar day while Lincoln stayed in the top 10 with a $1.6 million dollar haul for eighth place. The Guilt Trip earned $1.4 million dollars while Promised Land came in at #10 after expanding by over 1600 screens. Its take was $1.3 million dollars.
